| New Analog Music With No Contact |
ELP's Message to Music Lovers
The Basic Technology of Laser Turntable (LT) was developed by a venture capital company in the USA in the 1980s. They hoped
to partner with a US or Japanese company to bring the LT to the market, and demonstrated this new technology in 1988 and 1989.
However, all of the companies denied the technology because:
- Digital music (CDs) had been introduced to the market, so there was no business opportunity in reproducing
analog music in vinyl records
- Manufacturing cost reduction is difficult for the Laser Turntable
Personally, I have always believed that analog music in vinyl records should be revitalized, not only for current
music lovers but also for future generations.
I know that the LT:
- Has No Contact with the record's groove and creates No Wear
- Reproduces the audio information stored in the upper area of a record groove never before touched by a needle!
(The same audio information is engraved on the wall from the top/shoulder of a groove all the way to the bottom)
- Because of No Contact reproduces music quite similar to the sound on master tapes
I founded ELP Corporation with the belief that restoring analog audio is more important than profit and loss calculation.
After acquiring the LT technology, I began a 10-year process to work through the following challenges:
- Product Development (improvement of reproduction capability and product reliability)
- Development of the manufacturing facility, including special production machines, key parts, and others
What is the Sound Quality?
No one has ever listened to music in vinyl records without any contact from a needle. Because of no contact:
- Professional sound engineers find the music the Laser Turntable reproduces is very similar to the original
sound quality of master tapes
- Individual LT users acknowledge that the music in their vinyl records sounds wonderful on the LT
Why does the Laser Turntable seem expensive?
- Every LT is handmade individually by our excellent engineers.
- All of the key parts and production machines used to build LT units were specifically
developed for LT manufacturing.
- This complicated, but necessary, "individual" production makes mass production of the
LT impossible. However, the value of your Laser Turntable is greater than the purchase
price. At ELP, we believe in vinyl more than anyone else.
Where can you purchase the Laser Turntable?
ELP has produced and sold Laser Turntables in Japan since 1989 and is the sole distributor to customers
worldwide. We do this to:
- Maintain a close relationship with LT users for the best service after purchase
- Save on distribution costs between customers and ELP of Japan
- Provide lifetime support to all LT customers
